Hey Buddy, Wanna Buy a Spare Mech?
A Flames of Orion Micro-Supplement
You ever notice how some mechs just don’t stay down?
You hit them. They fall apart.
Then there are more of them.
Funny thing about municipal procurement contracts…
THE CIVIC STACKER
Heavy Frame – Experimental Defense Platform
A slow, heavily plated mech designed for urban containment operations.
When damaged, its internal drone units detach and continue the fight independently.
Officially described as “administrative redundancy.”
Unofficially described as “four UrbanMechs in a trench coat.”
Frame
Heavy
Slots Used:
- Medium Weapon
- Light Weapon
- Heavy Plating
- Armor Mk I
Movement: Slow
Heat Capacity: Moderate
Armor: High
The Stacker is durable but not fast. Its strength lies in what happens after it starts taking hits.
Weapons
Municipal Autocannon (Medium Weapon)
Reliable mid-range deterrent.
Close Defense Laser (Light Weapon)
Low heat, short range.
Special Rule: ADMINISTRATIVE REDUNDANCY
The Civic Stacker contains four internal Deputy Units.
Each time the Stacker suffers damage from an attack:
- Deploy one Deputy Unit (Light Frame) within 2".
- The Deputy activate normally starting next turn.
After the fourth Deputy deploys, remove the Civic Stacker model.
You now have four Light Frames on the battlefield.
Deputy Unit
Frame: Light
Weapon: Light Laser
Armor: Low
Mobility: High
Deputies are fragile individually but dangerous in numbers.
Tactical Notes
The Civic Stacker creates an unusual battlefield dilemma.
Destroying it increases the number of enemy units.
Ignore it, and it continues firing its autocannon from a heavily armored chassis.
Either way, someone ends up dealing with the paperwork.
Designer’s Note
The Civic Stacker is intended as a humorous but functional unit for Flames of Orion.
It works especially well in urban scenarios where terrain, heat management, and positioning matter more than raw firepower.
Also: yes, it is absolutely four mechs in a trench coat.
